dittolog logoFor the last 18 months, we have been totally engrossed with development of dittolog, the worlds first real, wireless flight movement logging system. Dittolog wirelessly beams your day-sheet up to your club’s mydittolog webpage, while maintaining an online logbook for pilots at their individual mydittolog page. PowerFlarm LogoThe word on everybody’s lips for the last 12 months has been PowerFlarm. PowerFlarm has the same functionailty as the Flarm we are all familiar with and is fully compatible with OZFlarm, miniOZ and all Flarm licensed products. In addition to this it also has an ADSB receiver. More info on ADSB, and its introduction in Australia can be found here.
Flarm admit that the PowerFlarm project was larger than anticipated, and subsequently release dates had been put back and back. But now the good news !!!!! PowerFlarm has about 500 units in use in Europe and will start shipping to USA any day. Functionailty is not complete in these devices and will become available via firmware updates in the coming months. It should be noted that US devices will be different to EU and AU versions and will not operate in Australia.

What is different about PowerFlarm?

  • PowerFlarm has a higher sensitivity Flarm receiver meaning greater Flarm Range.
  • It actually has two, yes thats right two parallel flarm recievers. This allows a dual antenna installation to get optimium flarm receive pattern.
  • An ADSB receiver is embedded in the PowerFlarm, for displaying ADSB targets
  • A Colour LCD screen for easy target identifiation
  • Internal batteries (mainly for GA installatons)
  • It’s a bigger device than an OZFlarm

When can you get one?

  • Latest advise from Flarm is before the 2012 season for Australia.
  • We expect the PowerFlarm ‘brick’ will be available for gliders which makes installation very similar to a miniOZ

What will it cost ?

  • Currently sellin in Europe for around 1550 Euro plus tax, expect something similar here
  • US products will be cheaper but slightly different in operation and locked to USA operation by GPS. I.e. they will only work in USA.
Joeyglide SponsorshipSwift Avionics is sponsoring Joeyglide this year by way of equipping the top 25 aircraft with dittolog devices. Scores will be available when aircraft land. This is a world first , and it’s happening here in Australia at Kingaroy. 

Swift Avionics believe the future of gliding in general lays at the feet of those not old enough to remember when a Blanik was hot ship! We are offering a prize of a free dittolog system (Prize Value approx $3300) to the club of one of placegetters ( Organisers are yet to announce which one).We wish all competitors a fun and safe competition.
